Prince George's Community College Continuing Education Distance Learning program
allows you to learn any place, at any time! We use technology—the Internet for
ConEd Online, and interactive
video for ConEd Interactive—to make it possible for you to connect to courses even though you are not in the
same location as your instructor. Distance learning courses can save you the time
and expense of driving to campus, give you flexibility in time, location, and
pace of study.
What is ConEd Online?

The Workforce Development and Continuing Education Division at Prince George's
Community College makes it easy to take a noncredit course for personal or professional
development. Update your skills, discover a new talent, or chart a career path
at your convenience using your computer. If you have a difficult time attending
classes because your schedule is full or changes constantly, consider enrolling
in one of our online courses. You will be able to study a lesson, complete assignments,
and ask questions from the convenience of your home or office. All of these courses
allow you to study, complete assignments, and communicate with your instructor
and fellow classmates from the convenience of your computer. All you need is an
e-mail address, Internet access, and a Web browser. The computer becomes the classroom. Students can use their own computer at home or work, or use a computer at the
college's microcomputer center to conduct course communications. Please note most
online courses are not self-paced; you will be required to complete course work
during specific times. Hardware & Software Requirements
You need access to a Pentium-class or Mac computer with at least 128 MB RAM
and at least a 56K modem. Broadband (DSL, Cable, FIOS) is highly
recommended. You must have an Internet Service Provider (ISP) and your own
e-mail address. Online courses are accessed via the Internet using Web
browsers: Internet Explorer 6.0 or 7.0, Netscape Navigator 7 (or higher),
Firefox 1.0, 2.0, or 3.0, and Safari 2.0. Microsoft Word is the college
standard for Word Processing software. Multimedia (speakers and sound card)
may be required in some courses.

What is
ConEd Interactive?
Connect to the future by taking an interactive distance learning class in our
state-of-the-art classroom in Chesapeake Hall, Room

and instructors at multiple sites throughout Maryland via multidirectional video
and audio conferencing. Participants see and hear all participants at each site
in real time. Instructors may be on-site or at a remote site depending on where
your class originates.
