Text
Box Editor for Internet Explorer
What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG)…Most text entry
boxes (i.e., discussion board, content area text boxes) now include
the WYSIWYG feature. This allows you to format text using tool bars
similar to those used in Microsoft Word. WYSIWYG allows text formatting
such as font, bold, italic and underline attributes as well as spell
check, WebEq, MathML and HTML editors. You may also attach image,
audio or video files. The finished page can be viewed and checked
with the Preview button.
Note: Currently, the WYSIWYG editor is fully functional only with
Internet Explorer on a Windows computer; it is being developed for
Macintosh and other browsers also |

Internal
Messaging
Need to get in touch with students who have not updated their
external email address within Blackboard? Want to stop using the digital
dropbox and receive homework submissions directly within Blackboard.
The new Internal Messaging feature allows sending to members within
a course, supports attachments and folders, and doesn't require any
email accounts/clients/servers.
Note: This feature is not suggested for frequent communication
with large number of students (the process of selectng multiple students
is quite tedious).

Quick Edit
Mode
Now, when you are walking through your site in the student
perspective, you can edit quickly and easily any item without first
navigating through the control panel. Once you are on the page in
your course that requires editing, click the “Edit View”
link and then click to modify the item. Once in “Edit View,”
you may toggle to “Display View” to return to the student
view of the page you are editing. |

Glossary Manager
A Glossary Manager has been added to the control panel that
allows an instructor to define a glossary of terms for the course.
You can also export/import glossaries (and we will copy/preserve them
between semesters). Students access the Glossary from their "Tools"
menu. |

Improved
Assessment Features
A number of changes were made to improve the workflow for
assessments. These improvements include:
- A new option, "Force Completion", has been added.
If this option is selected by the instructor, students will be
forced to complete the assessment the first time they launch it.
They will not be able to exit the quiz and work on it at a later
date. The status of "Force Completion" will be displayed
to students after logging in to the assessment.
- The status of "multiple attempts" (if they are or
are not allowed) is now displayed to students at the top of the
assessment.
- The "submit" and "save" buttons will now
be displayed for assessments that have the "reveal questions
all at once" option checked, as well as for "reveal
questions one at a time".
- If a student clicks Submit without answering all questions,
they will receive a warning message indicating the questions that
have not been answered.
- Navigational arrows will now appear for assessments set to display
questions one at a time (unless backtracking is prohibited.)
Note: The "save" button does not function properly therefore
we recommend "force completion" for all exams. |
