Strategies for Successful Online Testing
Have students "save" each question response as they complete the test by scrolling down and clicking <SAVE>. This will capture the response to each question in case the computer freezes or "times out" before clicking <SUBMIT>. In the event the test is not submitted properly, the answers will be saved and the instructor will be able to access the student's original test with answers. Please note that if the test was not "submitted" properly, the grade book will show a lock and the test will still need to be graded by the faculty member; however, the instructor will be able to view the student's responses.
Once a student begins a test (i.e., after clicking "OK" to the
query 'Are you sure you want to take this assessment now?'),
there are only three valid actions a student may perform:
The first valid action is 'answering'
the question (selecting
True/False, Multiple Choice, Fill-In-the-blank, etc.).
The second valid action is 'saving' the answers (clicking the <SAVE> button after entering each answer).
The third valid action is 'submitting' the entire assessment (clicking the <SUBMIT> button when completely finished with the test).
Important:
Using the mouse or keyboard to perform ANY other action, such as <BACKSPACE> OR <REFRESH>, could ruin the outcome of the assessment. Also, answering and/or clicking on the <SAVE> button after 10 minutes from the last answer (no matter how long the instructor allows you to take the assessment), could ruin the outcome as well. Using the slide bar to move up or down the assessment page is the only exception.
