History of Latin America and the Caribbean

The course is a survey of Latin America and the Caribbean from independence to the present with an overview of the colonial period. It examines the creation and development of the independent nations that evolved from European colonies on the mainland and the Caribbean -- Spanish, Portuguese, British, French, Dutch, and Danish -- into distinct polities.
